Protein Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of my favorite go-to’s for a meal or even a snack to hold me over on those busy days when I don’t know when the next meal time will be!

What’s so great about oatmeal? You can dress it up or down however you want! Have a bit of a sweet tooth? Add some fresh fruit; blueberries, bananas, strawberries, whatever you like. Looking for something nuttier? I’m sure you can guess what to add there, any nuts you like!

You can go so many ways with oatmeal that are healthy and hearty keeping you full and FUELED until your next meal.

This recipe incorporates protein powder into your breakfast meal making it a great recovery meal or pre-workout meal, however you prefer. Super simple, can be made at home or at the office!

Protein Oatmeal (if at home & using rolled oats)

What you need:

1 cup water

½ cup oats

1 scoop protein powder of your choosing

*optional, add any fruits or nuts for added flavor and nutrition

Make it!

Bring water to a boil. Add the oats. When the oats are cooked, stir in the scoop of protein. (I HIGHLY recommend waiting until the oats are completely cooked before adding the protein in order to avoid clumping of the powder). Add any extras you’ve chosen, nuts or fruits (I sometimes add a little cinnamon, goes great with the protein powder I use and livens up rolled oats).

If you intend on enjoying your meal at work, I recommend instant oats. Cook them as you normally would THEN add the protein powder. Again, waiting until the oats are cooked prevent the powder from becoming a clumpy mess in your oatmeal!
